Holy FUCK this is amazing, thanks xeno for showing me this!  Imagine if you took the shredding and outrageous technicality of Blotted Science, mixed it with some of the vibes of Angel Vivaldi, toned back on the experimentation, and added some death metal structure…just, holy crap.  Plus…MALCOLM PUGH.  That should tell you all you need to know right there.  Share this EVERYWHERE.

Vires – Global Wasteland (2011)

Vires
Album:  Global Wasteland
Genre:  Technical/Brutal Deathcore

Track Listing:
1. Introduction
2. Awaken
3. Cold-Blooded Indoctrination
4. Prelude To Immuration
5. Global Wasteland
6. Distribution Of Falsehood
7. Synthetic Avidity

Preview:  “Awaken”

If heavy deathcore of any stripe (beatdown, chugcore, shredfest, etc.) has ever gotten you amped, Vires takes all of those styles and throws them in a blender.  Their style kind of encompasses Depths Of Hatred-esque evil shredding, punishing breakdowns, hard-hitting grooves, and Micawber-esque lows.  This is such a good EP, and their new song (found HERE) does nothing to dispel the notion that Vires absolutely destroys.  Expecting big things from them in 2013!

What do you think would happen if you mixed the beefy tone of Megalodon, Bermuda, and Glass Realms with the hard-hitting grooviness of Delta and some of the atmosphere of Make Them Suffer?  Because I’m pretty sure it’d wind up with something similar to MIBC.  Lots of well-composed but subtle atmosphere that a lot of bands tend to gloss over that somehow manages to span the gap between spacey and Make Them Suffer-ish – there’s those feather-light keyboard touches I love so much!  Plus, there’s the ever-present beefy tone and lots of grooves and heaviness to go around.  The band requested I not post the album, so I did a short “review” instead – don’t miss this album guys, no matter whether you just stream it on Bandcamp OR buy it!

Burning In White – Enceladus (2013)

Blisteringly fast and INSANELY HEAVY.  Can’t wait to hear more out of this band – they sound like a more death metal version of Paradise In Exile, which is awesome.  If you loved Trailer Park Massacre or my recent Shame Of Kali post, you’ll also love this, trust me

Mmmm…that catchy, groovy riff-laden TBDM “Unhallowed”-ish style melodic death metal that ALWAYS hits the spot.  Gets me banging my head every damn time.  Fans of “The Culling”-era Knights Of The Abyss will also love this.  I’m amazed these guys aren’t bigger!

Sirens – Spore (2012) + Drone (2013)

6. Drone (New Song 2013)

Fans of old The Contortionist will love this shit.  So beefy, so spacey.  These guys’ new track is waaaay better, but their EP is pretty gnarly too!  They’re doing a tour with Ovid’s Withering coming up, and yours’ truly is sponsoring it <3  Plus, just peep the lyric video for "Drone"..it's amazing!  Some incredible lyrics too...I especially love the last verse:

The burden of guilt crushes my throat.
I've fixed the world, but ruined myself.
My virus, my vision, my future, my mind;
Disassembled by something that I've designed.

GET STOKED BBYS.  I KNOW I AM.

Composer, Meet Corpse – Prozium (2013)

Composer, Meet Corpse
Album:  Prozium
Genre:  Technical Deathcore

Track Listing:

5. The Underground Rises (Diami)
6. A Cleric Unleashed (Albaturkey)
7. Reminiscent Of The Past
8. Libria Lost

Support:  Bandcamp ($8)

If you’re looking for an outstanding new technical deathcore band that actually knows how to write a riff or two, look no further.  Prozium is a hell of an album, and it’s based basically entirely one of my favorite movies, “Equilibrium” (starring Christian Bale), which is essentially a more realistic version of “The Matrix”.  Anyways, CMC knows how to write groovy riffs, all while playing music that just makes you want to go absolutely out of your mind with headbanging…fans of Sleep Serapis Sleep will LOVE this stuff.  Get stoked, and buy the album \m/

UNGOOGLE-ABLE BAND NAMES FOR THE LOSS.  While they’re definitely not doing anything new, the tunes hit rrrrrreallly hard, and they’re from Texas…so there’s that!  Fans of Solaris, Immoralist, Seditionist, etc. will dig this.

Apophis – New Song (2013)

Apophis

One of our friends on the Facebook page showed me these guys, and they definitely sound really promising!  Not really that technical, but some blisteringly-fast blast beat portions…and the mixing with the bass is pretty gnarly.

These guys didn't want me posting a link to download their song for free, however they just released an instrumental version of it that they are giving away for free, so I'm going to use that opportunity to promote them here. You can download the instrumental version for free, and preview the version with vocals, and if you like it it's only $1 on their Bandcamp! The song features Garrison Lee of Erra, which is fitting as the band sounds a lot like Erra.

Anaerob – Empedokles (2013)

Definitely metalcore that I can listen to. This band sounds a bit like Within The Ruins, maybe more technical. Vocals are a little static, but with more focus on the instruments, they fit right in. There's several parts in this album that are just downright groovy. I recommend purchasing this album because the band shows great promise with this being their debut album. Track 6 features a member of the band T.R.A.M. which also features Tosin Abasi of Animals as Leaders (and several other projects). 256kbps personal iTunes purchase. Definitely check it out.

9. Slowlamaka
10. Bread Trails
11. A Spectacle In Red

Support:  Bandcamp ($5)

This is one of those albums that made my jaw just hit the floor, and it’s absolutely my favorite so far in 2013 – simply incredible.  Imagine if you took the black metal theatricality of Ovid’s Withering and mingled it with the epic, symphonic death metal vibes of Fleshgod Apocalypse, then added in even some folk metal elements a la Aether Realm…then you might have some idea how much Scorned Deity’s latest album “Adventum” rules.  It is just a crime how few fans this band has…change that guys.  Please support Scorned and buy the album, AND check out their 2011 masterpiece “The Monarchy Memoirs” HERE!

This Band is still sexy btw. Also first post in a while... ANYWAYS Listen to this sexterpiece. It's a very enjoyable EP (Or at least I'm guessing it is, on song 3 and I'm really digging it). The highs are fucking crazy. Some bouncy guitar work from here and there and some very punishing vocal performances. Also these two guys are currently trying to recruit some new members (A bassist and drummer) so they can play live. Hit them up on their facebook if you're interested.

I am all about symphonic/blackened theatrical death metal lately, since Scorned Deity’s “Adventum” might very well wind up being in my top 5 for album of the year this year, and I just heard the band Vesperian Sorrow for the first time. \m/  This isn’t nearly as good, but if you like the genre you’ll enjoy it :)

5. Hell Sweet Home
6. Ghostalgy
7. To Enter and Survive
8. Drown

Download/Support/Preview: NYP @ Bandcamp

This was posted on here a long time ago, but I thought I'd give everyone, especially any new people a chance to listen to this excellent album. It's technical, it's off the wall, and it even has jazz influence! There are not many bands with this kind of sound, but I would compare them to The Faceless or maybe The Contortionist. This isn't the most accessible album, but give it a few spins and your jaw will drop multiple times. It's in my top 5 favorite releases of 2011, which is great considering they're completely unknown in the metal community.

Raising The Veil – Yucatanimvs (2012)

Dear lord this is awesome – stunning, uniquely-composed technical death metal.  That vocalist’s highs are totally nuts!  Fans of Pyrithion will really enjoy this \m/  Fans of evil-ass technical deathcore like Hideous Miscreation will also dig it!

Dem thrash grooves, mmmm.  Fans of headbanging will love this.

Shame Of Kali – 8 Sins (2012)

7. Silenced Like Flies
8. Veil Of Green
9. Let The Feast Begin
10. I The Absolute
11. This Precious Fear
12. Closing The Third Eye

Shockingly heavy technical deathcore with well-written symphonic elements sprinkled on!  Also incorporates a deep, beefy death metal tone (a la Micawber), coupled with the shredding deathcore styling of Thy Devourer.  Hot damn!

PS:  I think the file is a transcode, because it isn’t available to purchase in the States.  Bleh.  I wanna buy it :\

Some of the best death metal you’ll find posted on this site for a LONG time, melodic or otherwise…so this is more or less a *must* download.  Incredible riffs & rhythms that are more reminiscent of “Nocturnal”-era The Black Dahlia Murder than to Swedish melodeath bands like Insomnium or what-have-you.  HUGE ups to ieatbabygorillas for the heads-up about these guys!

Death Of A Poet – You Have Nothing To Lose But The World To Gain (2013)

Death Of A Poet

8. Of Memories And Destinies
9. Eulogy For A Memory
10. Tomorrow (Feat. Taylor Ross And Sean Fried Of Empire:Andromeda)

To me at least, these guys sound like they spent a lot of time listening to Make Them Suffer, but incorporated some guitar acrobatics.  And that’s not a bad thing.  Punishing, low-key synth-y breakdowns and plenty of grooves to go around.

Such an underrated band.  No credit for all the atmosphere they generate, how well-written/beautiful the orchestral elements are, and how beautiful they render everything else.  Sounds almost as vast as the instrumental section of The Contortionist's "Oscillator" at times!

One of the best technical deathcore EP’s ever!  Miss these guys so much – fans of early Rings of Saturn or the mighty Hiroshima Will Burn will LOVE this.  If this isn’t in your library already, rectify that situation.
