By far the best technical death metal upload in a while, especially considering that tech death is really my first love and there’s been precious little of it thrown up here lately.  Straight-up tech death for fans of Hideous Divinity, Desecravity, Decrepit Birth, Arkaik…and you get the idea.  Shred.

One man project from Portsmouth, United Kingdom. Originally intented to be purely Instrumental Death Metal, switching to include a shit load of guests on guitar, keys & synths and vocals from bands like Typheous, Puresist, Beyond Sanity, Pravus, Aethara, to name some. Solid raging material by the hand of multi-instrumentalist Alex Loader, on the line of bands like Scar Symmetry, Soilwork and Mors Principium Est. No download link this time since it's a "name your price" album, but definitely worth to pay for it! Also expect some new tunes and plenty more insane guests from the new album "Inside The Universe Of Horror" to be released on June 21st!

I don´t like female vocalists in metal. They always have this "exotic" feeling, they don´t need to be good or talented. Example: Angela Gossow from  Arch Enemy is, imo, a horrible vocalists, but she´s a woman and she´s blonde....so fuck it.

But Ebony Rosier fits perfect with Roma Ivakov´s outstanding groove and melodic instrumentals. So this is very great.
BTW: If you want an outstanding female vocalist, take Obscure Spinx.

I'm not gonna lie, I completely over looked this album last year. I remember seeing the album art and a Blackened Death Metal tag and just tossed it to the side, judging it by sight as if I had already listened to it. What a shitty mistake. This album is bonerific. Just plainly bonerific. Definitely check it out.

The preview song definitely isn't the best song on the album.  This is much better blackened death metal than my previous post, and like I said, there’s been WAY too little of it on the site.  And only 97 likes on Facebook!  While the music isn’t nearly as brutal, some of the riffs have kind of an Egyptian vibe a LITTLE like Nile, but also a lot like the *other* Eyeless that I posted forever and a day ago (who are criminally underrated, and happen to have released one of my favorite 5+ minute songs ever, you can listen to it HERE).  Plus, they’re Russian and the album art is pretty damn gnarly.

This site doesn’t have nearly enough blackened death metal on it.  Let’s fix that situation, shall we?  Here’s some blackened death done right.  Soul-searing heaviness, and some almost thrash-like grooves thrown in there as well.  If you remember when I posted the groove band Eyeless, or you're a fan of bands like Hatesphere with a touch of black metal influence, Minions will please your senses.

Outstanding American progressive death metal from (where else?) Florida!  Plenty of black metal atmosphere to wrap your head around, and their vocalist is actually JJ Polachek from Ovid’s Withering & 7 Horns 7 Eyes (plenty of that gloomy 7H7E sound in there too), so you know the growls are going to be insane.  Buy it if you can bbys, otherwise this album is just so good I’m posting the streaming link on here!

One of the UK’s best deathcore bands – take Shame Of Kali and mix it with The Seraphim Veil and you’ll get this album.  They changed a *LOT* for their new full length album, coming soon (preview HERE), moving more towards an atmospheric/symphonic deathcore style like Make Them Suffer, but this album is a little more heavy and straight-up.  It was on my most-played list in 2010 :)  Unfortunately only 160kbps copies of this album are available – even the band themselves don’t have better quality.

Easily one of the most talented bands to come out of the djent movement, and they just dropped what was essentially a surprise EP on the metal world – even people who aren’t gigantic fans of djent should at least give this one a chance (you never know, after all!).  This EP will supposedly be the first of a trilogy of releases that’ll make up their full debut album “Mise En Scene”.

Additionally, not only is Pete Graves of RSF essentially spearheading the rapidly-growing movement against “fake likes” on Facebook, but their old guitarist Nolly now plays bass for Periphery :)  These guys are markedly heavier than the new Periphery album though…at least their old EP was!  You can find and download that one HERE (preview the track “Epinephrine”).

BLACK TONGUE - FALSIFIER
EP REVIEW

So you think your band tunes low? Think again.
Say hello to Black Tongue, a side project from Aaron Kitcher and Eddie Pickard of Infant Annihilator, the UK's heaviest online phenomenon. As is to be expected, this 6 track offering is bowel-crushingly heavy. Gone, however, is Pickard's sweeps and Kitcher's stupidly fast blasts; Black Tongue is all about ominous, slow brutality. Take a generous helping of death metal and deathcore, a sprinkling of hardcore and slow it right the fuck down, and what you'll be left with will be damn near what Falsifier sounds like.

I can't stress this enough. This is a HEAVY EP. The drums are slow and punishing, the guitars filthy and sinister, the bass is earthshaking and the vocals are powerful. I've seen some reviews scattered about the Internet that his vocals don't suit the sound of this band, and I wholeheartedly disagree. His powerful, hardcore-esque vocals suit the downtempo heaviness of the EP, and it's a surprise when he summons forth some of the most evil sounding gutturals this side of Bozeman. I instantly thought of the Whitechapel powerhouse when Teyen came in on H.C.H.C, and that's a high compliment.  See: A Pale Procession.

A drawback would be the guitar tone the guys have chosen for the release. I've seen it compared to a tin of angry bees, and I have to say that it's a bit top heavy for my tastes. However it does add to the feel of filthy, underground heaviness that Black Tongue is getting known for, and it's aggressive. If they were a riff oriented band I can see it impeding on the music, but it fits into this downtempo groove nicely and sudden moments of chug (see: Ire Upon The Earth') become powerful as fuck.

The parallels between Black Tongue and Infant Annihilator are inevitable, just as Stone Sour were compared to Slipknot and Megadeth were (and still are) compared to Metallica. But these comparisons are unjust, as the two projects were destined to differ from their inception. In Kitcher's own words : 'Infant Annihilator is like Epic Meal Time. A plethora of meat hacked up and smashed into a gargantuan meal. Cooked at home with a lot of laughs, it will fill you up and be absolutely ridiculous. On the other hand, Black Tongue is like a restaurant-served prime cut medallion of the finest steak. Definitely still pure meat, but cooked with a professional eye, love and care.'

Black Tongue is a band that do nothing new, but they do it well. Their brand of brutal, death-infused hardcore has been done many times before, but it's never been as angry as this. Black Tongue mean business.

9/10

For fans of: Sworn In, Seeker, Whitechapel, Not Infant Annihilator
Stand out moment: the unbelievable heaviness of the middle section of A Pale Procession.

Simply phenomenal death metal that sounds like sort of a fusion of The Black Dahlia Murder, Scorned Deity, and ESPECIALLY Fallujah.  Blisteringly intense blast beats, sledgehammer-heavy breaks, and a veritable cornucopia of “Harvest Wombs”-era Fallujah-esque riffs…and that’s just to get your ears interested.  Buried beneath the shred, the soaring solos, the brutal breakdowns, and the variegated vokills, the listener will find a deeply disturbed – almost black metal – morose, barely-concealed evil lurking.  Every time I listen to this EP I’m finding something new, and I’m sure you will too.  Fans of death metal rejoice!  Spend the $5 it costs to purchase Boreworm’s “Black Path” EP – they’re trying to fund a new full length, so it’s MORE than worth it!

God DAMN this is good!  Lost Without Direction doesn't really do anything new, but what they do, they do veeerrryyyy well.  Bouncy, groovy, hard-hitting at times, with lots of neat little ambient elements mixed in the background – plus, it sounds crisp as fff.  Fans of a slightly more fast-paced Erra with a Truth Behold groove and some Catch The Sun-esque riffage will LOVE this.  I know I’M digging the hell out of it!

Gigantic ups to Longstreth for showing me this one.
