Even people who aren’t a fan of the genre should give this one a spin, trust me.  “Perceptions” is one of the better, most thoroughly-unique prog. deathcore releases you’ll ever get your grubby little paws on…I’ve never heard ANYTHING that sounds quite like this.  The “progressive” label is bandied about a lot lately (I know, I know…I’m guilty myself), but this release truly IS progressive.  Synth-laden, upbeat melodies permeate the atmosphere, but there are lots of the technical precision and crushing grooves you’ve come to expect from the prog deathcore genre.  And, while I’m sure a lot of you enjoy the fact that there’s no cleans, I’m not particularly enamored with – if ever there’s been a deathcore album that called for at least a sprinkling of cleans, this would be it.  This album has received rave reviews from all around the internets, including this 4.0/5 on Sputnikmusic and this 4/5 review on Thrashmag!  Unfortunately, this band is now defunct…in this form – they reformed as the incredible Save Us From The Archon (posted HERE)!

PS:  Sorry, all I could find was 192kbps – all links are dead, and there aren’t even any purchase links available!  But somebody posted the album on their Facebook for free here :)

The vocals aren’t my cup of tea at times, but damn…the music is just the bee’s-fricken-knees.  Mathy, chaotic, almost entirely unpredictable, and GROOVY-AS-HELL.  For fans of:  Atherial, The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza, Monuments.

The triumphant return of me actually posting regularly…BUY THIS.  Please, for the love of god, BUY THIS.  I’ve been waiting for this for what feels like forever!  Outside of maybe Delta, this is far and away the best deathcore EP so far this year…they actually have an ambience and atmosphere similar to Delta, crushing songs and skull-shattering grooves, but they incorporate shredding a little more liberally.

Wow this is a long record at 178+ MB…I thought for sure it would be instrumental, but nope!  Every song has its own little unique groove, and plenty of heavy to go around.  Not sure I’ll remember a single song by the time I’m done listening, but I’m having a pretty good time listening right now.

Fucking PERFECTION.  Far and away my favorite EP this year…until Slice the Cake and Ovid’s come out, this is pretty firmly at the top of my list.  This UK twosome actually has studio appearances from such monstrous names as Alex Rudinger (studio drums, The Faceless, ex-Threat Signal, ex-The HAARP Machine, Ordinance, Fleshwrought), Scott Corstairs (Fallujah), Reece Fullwood (Eumeria), Sacha Laskow (Walk As Chaos).  Just unbelievably good metal.  BUY IT ON CD BABY.

Oh, and they'll be releasing a track featuring Aaron Matts from Betraying the Martyrs soon!

Definitely not my typical post, but this sounds a little like what would happen if Be’Lakor and Carach Angren had a baby deep in a snow-covered forest.  A hybrid between evil and sorrow, definitely some extremely high-quality metal!

Beautiful brutality that the band released for free download!  Some of the theatricality of Fleshgod Apocalypse meets some of the riff-writing of Hideous Divinity.  Not too shabby, no? <3
